Everette V. Funches
Born in Winston-Salem N.C. Everette Funches is an interdisciplinary artist spanning Music, Theater, and Visual Art which started as a kid in his father's shadow (Musician, Visual Artist, Wire Sculptor - James E. Funches).
Influenced by the NYC graffiti golden age of the 70's and early 80's bubble letters was just the start. Black Classical Music linked with firsts sightings of collage and cubist work of Romare Bearden sharpened his ideas of how Art can be interpreted through bold color and paper cut-outs alongside HIP HOP sampling as an additional template of recycling materials.
Everette's creative practice of collage is deeply rooted in cultural memory and the transformative power of storytelling through multi-layered space. Blending personal and collective histories help intersect and invite audiences to reflect, connect. and imagine new possibilities.
